Paulo has more than 30 years of experience advising domestic and international players in tax matters, especially related to tax planning in local and cross-border transactions.
He works, among other market transactions, with those involving publicly held or closed companies, family groups, investment funds, asset sales, joint ventures, business combinations, corporate restructuring, foreign investment, and structured debt. He is recognized in the market for his strategic vision and ability to navigate complex tax scenarios.

Singapore’s GIC Inks Data Center JV with São Paulo Investor Alianza
Partners Lidia Rossi, Ricardo Madrona, and Paulo Bento, together with lawyers Thiago Fiuza and Rafael Ladeira, advised Alianza on a joint venture with Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC to invest BRL 2 billion (US$342 million) in Brazil’s data center market. Tax Reform enacted: How do presidential vetoes affect investment fund taxation?
As widely reported, on January 16, 2025, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed Complementary Bill 68/2024 into law, which has now become Complementary Law No. 214, the first legislation in the context of the Consumption Tax Reform. While the enactment was celebrated, it also brought unwelcome surprises for investment fund managers, particularly for Real Estate Investment Funds (FIIs) and Agro-Industrial Production Chain Funds (Fiagros), due to presidential vetoes.
